New arrival: Rain Forest Alliance Salvador Cerro Las Panas Pea Berry. - Monday, July 30th
New arrival: Rain Forest Alliance Salvador Cerro Las Panas Pea Berry.
“Cerro Las Panas” translated means “Hill of Frogs” These little frogs inhabit the forest where this coffee grows. They migrate from the top to the bottom of the hill and back again each season. The wonderful taste of this coffee is due in-part to the pulp natural fermentation process which takes place during the drying. The Coffee fruit is squeezed to remove the bean and then then raw coffee is turned on massive drying patios carefully over and over till coffee is ready for roasting. Order some today.
Here’s what Dave of Natural World Bakery thought of this great coffee:
Packed with Personality, Roasted with with Pride, 100% percolated generosity!
A satisfying flavor sealed with enthusiasm, Never bitter! Filled with
freshness and fun.
Always worth the second cup.
thats some yummy coffee
Dave

Regulations do not allow such a wonderful experience to occur. - Tuesday, July 17th
Roos Roast coffee will not be present in its liquid form at the Alaska Wilderness League table in the non-profit section of the Arts Fair. Regulations do not allow such a wonderful experience to occur. I had visions of people standing around the table, early morning art goers, upon wandering through the streets of A2 they would come upon the AWL table and enjoy the fresh roasted, free speech coffee that John Roos brings to your and my pallet everyday. It was a romantic vision of camaraderie, conversation and good will that only a good cup of Joe can stimulate. It was a grand vision, a vision of freedom, patriotism, democracy, all burned down and stomped upon my feudal regulations knitted in the fabric of well intentioned public health codes. Fortunately, Roos Roast will still be there in bags waiting to be ceased upon and slowly dripped into your coffee pot. I urge you to still stop by and say hi, I know it is a high priority properly displayed in your day planner. If you do wander over to the Alaska table and say the secret phrase " Every anarchist is a baffled dictator", you may find yourself with a fresh, hot, savory cup of Roos in your hand. I can't make any promises, and if big brother is watching whole plan might unfold, but as a patriot in corporate dominated society I feel it is my duty to bring a little Free Speech into your soul. Thank you for your time and Keep Alaska Wild. -bg

How was the Shadow Art Fair? - Monday, July 16th
Wow! How was the Shadow Art Fair? I Sold out of coffee and at the end of the 18 hour day can say I was exhausted and dehydrated. I had the killer set up and was able to meet the demand and please the crowds. I realized all I need is 50 to 200sq feet and I can be doing what I like to do best and that is serving up great coffee. (Anyone want to enhance their business or store front the real thing? Roos Roast!)
What a day all the artist, designers, and vendors had! I kept introducing people who happened to be standing in front of my table at the same time. “Hey, Mike do you know Lilly? Mike, Lilly, Lilly, Mike. Guess what? You met at Roos Roast!” that was fun.
Here comes the Ann Arbor Art Fair July 18th thru 22nd so look for Roos Roast in the mornings for free by the cup at the Alaska Wilderness League’s table on Liberty Street in the non-profit area and then At Red Shoes on Ashley where Kathy and my cousin Ann Will be serving up Vietnamese Ice Coffee at Red shoes on Ashley street between Williams and Liberty and it’s the best place to get gifts in the whole wide world

Shadow Art Fair is this Saturday July 14, 2007 - Monday, July 9th
The Shadow Art Fair is this Saturday July 14, 2007 noon till midnight, at The Corner Brewery, 720 Norris (corner of Forest) Ypsilanti, Michigan. Shadow Art Fair.
This summer’s show includes five acts scheduled to play in the Brewery's Beer Garden in the evening, so this year there will be a music tent in addition to all the great art.
For anyone who hasn’t been to either one of the previous Shadow Shows this is the artists art show. I have done a lot of art shows and gallery openings over the years and this is the best by far because of the artists and The Michigan Design Militia. There were so many applications this year so the popularity is well deserved.
I’m excited to say that I will be there serving up Coffee in all it’s wonderful forms, from whole bean to extract and Art so please come out and support the artists and designers of Michigan. Remember you can’t keep a good state down! If you have any questions please contact me on the contact page of this site.

Who Saw the Clouds? - Friday, July 6th
What’s up with Roos Roast? It supports what I like to do and it ties me down and keeps me committed to my original idea:“Roast the best coffee for people.” Making great coffee isn’t enough it’s also being lucky enough to have great people drinking Roos Roast and sharing it with their friend. The fact that friends far and wide have been telling their and family and friends about my coffee is huge! I’ve also noticed that Roos Roast makes the prefect gift because it’s unique. Every bag is hand printed with an original Roosart linoleum block, it’s roast fresh daily and available all the time in a number of blends and single origin fair trade and organic varieties.
Next Saturday July, 14th 2007 is the 2nd annual Shadow Art Fair at the Corner Brewery, Depot Town Ypsilanti, Michigan. Be on the look out for the Shadow Art Fair posters. It’s really a great work of art. Good work Michigan Design Militia! I Met tons of great people at last years event and look forward to more of the same next Saturday. The Ann Arbor Art Fair Kicks off on July 18th. Stop and see Ben Greuel in the non-profit section on Liberty Street. As a member of the Wilderness League Roos Roast will be representing and making brewed coffee available in mornings for FREE while it lasts. Yum Yum. Bags of freshly roast coffee will be available at Ben’s table.

The Flavor is Here! - Tuesday, July 3rd
The flavor of the new Ethiopian Fair Trade Organic Coffees I’m roasting daily here at Roos Roast for $10 a pound goes along way. It's $16 a pound ordered from the site which includes priority shipping (a minimum of $4.60) so you can see the value in Roos Roast Coffee.
The Ethiopian Harrar is spicy, wild, sweet and sexy. How can a coffee be wild, sweet and sexy? You ask, the answer is, it makes you want more. I roast this bean dark or light either way it’s got the character of fine wine and takes me back to my days when I was a professional cafe bum spending hours in the cafes of Portland Oregon (mostly drinking coffee at Peet’s and Stumptown Coffee houses.)
The Ethiopian Yirgacheffe has a little less earthyness and a little more brightness but is still a complex full bodied cup roast light or dark.
This morning at Subaru I decided to test the portion control on a new home style burr grinder made by the Italian company La Pavoni. I pick this bad baby up over at Kitchen Port. I’m brewing a light roast FTO Ethoipian Yirgacheffe here at The Subaru Dealership with an institutional Bunn drip coffee maker diner style where the coffee which is supplied by some company who keeps us stocked up with individual portion control bags.(I've never touched the stuff in 3.5 years of working here) Usually this gas station/tire store quality coffee sits on the heating element for hours, but not when it’s Roos Roast because people be drinking that coffee up fast!
The La Pavoni model # PA Burr-B Winns! It's efficient, relatively quiet, and fast with ceramic burrs and very little static cling. When set on 10 cups it puts out a good amount of coffee so it’s set up for serious coffee drinking. I dampened the grounds and brewed a pot. This is very smooth and stout and drinkable here at work! I’m going to be switching to this as my recommended grinder very soon because it’s better then what I was using.
Have a great 4th. And drink more coffee!
