Roos Roast would like to acknowledge the Passing of legend; Shakey Jake Woods - Tuesday, September 18th
Roos Roast would like to acknowledge the Passing of legend; Shakey Jake Woods. He was 82 years old. One of my favorite Jake quotes was “Just doing what I gotta do! Just doing what I gotta do,” Woods will be remembered by all of Ann Arbor. To Share your memories of Mr. Woods visit blog.mlive.com/annarobrnews/2007/09/shaky_jake.html
As a side note: Roos Roast Mugs are finally in!
You don’t need a good face to appreciate great coffee but a good mug helps.
After much consultation with Tim Adkins and Mike Drozdowski at DIY (over on Plaza Dr near Zingerman’s Bake House) I decided on a mug that fit the Roos Roast puzzle.
I wanted something retro like the Ann Arbor Film Festival mug couldn’t find anything even after pouring over pages of cheesy promotional catalogues with Tim. I almost decided on the generic cup everyone has.until I spotted the owl of coffee cups. Sexy, wise and heavy this mug holds a full 16 OZS of the Double R.

Thank You Chelsea Gallery! - Monday, September 17th
Chelsea Gallery’s Hosted Coffee Class was a smash!
I would like to thank Doris, Gary, Marilyn, Becky, Ian and all the great folks who attended the Gallery Class yesterday. I smoked the place out a little with my mini roaster and we eat some great quiche, drank excellent coffee and learned the ways of Roos in the presence of so much great art. If you are in Chelsea make sure you stop in and check out the art and try the best Espresso around.
Don’t forget my next class at the last Bohemian Adventure AKA the Barnsy Barn is going to be on October 7th 2007 at 10:45 AM at the. Lots of people have shown an interest in fact every day I get e-mail inquiries about the class. If you know you are going to attend just go to the buy coffee page and search coffee class and pay. This helps me to know how many people to plan for. We had 20 people at the Gallery yesterday and everyone really enjoyed it.
Hope to see you there.

I’ve got a few minutes, I’m feeling unrushed and I wanted to - Tuesday, September 4th

I used to be a huge writer of letters. I would write people and say hello. Remember letters? I looked so forward to writing letter, at a café table, sitting with a view, and a breeze and a cup of coffee. I even used a fountain pen. There was time then. The coffee is better now but time short. How things have changed though. Now I write and it goes live to millions of possibilities! I just put it out there and click publish and it’s on! This letter is to not let another day to pass without mentioning the passing of my mentor in roasting Alfred Peet. He was 87 and died at his home in Ashland,Oregon on August 29th.
Thank you, Mr.Peet for turning us on to extraordinary coffee.
