BOTH CAFES NOW OPEN EVERYDAY 7AM TO 5PM!

The Humble Mason Jar

If you've been to our shops recently, you may have noticed we've gone ALL IN on the humble mason jar. Why? Well, it's cheap, for one. It's versatile, too. And, with just a few nifty and stylish accoutrements, you can turn this little jar into the ultimate To Go Vessel!

But Why Mason Jars?

Here's the thing. Between our two shops and the Farmer's Market, we (ie. our beloved coffee drinkers) are using upwards of 700 disposable cups PER DAY!

ACK! That's 255,500 cups PER YEAR.

Small steps make a big difference overtime.

And, yes, the RoosRoast cups are compostable, so you can rest assured those little cups will dissolve back into the Earth eventually. Yippee, we love that.

But: 255,500!?

And, geez, we're just one coffee joint, in one town, in one state, in one part of the country. Think of how how much energy it takes to produce the many millions and millions of disposable cups, just so we can enjoy a coffee on the run?

Yes, it is daunting. The main thing about sustainability is not that we all do it perfectly, but that we do a little bit more. Even a 10% improvement means 25,550 LESS cups in the landfill per year.

It's a long way from zero-waste, but the effort matters, the momentum builds, and sustainability can grow.

End Single Use Packaging!

The truth is, single use packaging is a major contributor to the developed world's carbon footprint. If we are to address our impact on the planet, and the issue of climate change, we simply have to address single use packaging!

So, here at RoosRoast we have a hopeful vision. And, we're asking you, dear lobster butter lover, to come along for the ride. Let's start with where we are now and - dare we say it - eventually become a paper-cup-free coffee shop?!

BYOM FAQs

Ideally, yes please, but we can give it a rinse if needed.

Any size! bring us a 40 oz-er. We'll either fill it up or just portion out our drinks to fit. It might be roomy in your mug, but still yummy. (a 10oz or 12oz mug works great for a small, bring us a 16oz or bigger if you want the larger size).

Ah, this is where a change of habit has to occur. Perhaps the biggest barrier to bringing your own mug is the inconvenience. You will have to remember to bring your mug, find a place to store it before and after your visit, and wash it. But you'll save 50 cents and limit the number of cups going into landfills! Remember, small changes add up.
